We headed to my mom and dad's house on Sunday before Christmas to celebrate along with my sister, brother-in-law and my 3 nephews. We had to do it early because my sister and brother-in-law were surprising their sons with a trip to Disneyland on Christmas morning.
We started the morning with our traditions of my mom's almost famous cocoa/cinnamon coffee cake, coffee and opening stockings. It's always so much fun pullilng out the funny treasures that people have chosen for you. Some of the highlights this year were: Tim and Brian's "nose flutes" that my mom got for them ,and the voice recordable/flashlight/pen parrot that Nana got for all the grandkids. After unwrapping gifts downstairs from under the tree, the next tradition in my family is eating oysters. EEK!!! I am the only one of my family that does not partake in this tradition as well as my brother-in-law and all 5 grandkids. My dad says- "no problem- all the more for us" The rest of the day was spent playing new games, assembling new toys, napping( for one lucky guy named Tim), and just experiencing the gift of Christmas with people whom I love.
Grant loved his gumball machine from his aunt and uncle and cousins.
